Climb one of the UK's tallest buildings and Preston's highest point!

St. Walburge's is opening its doors to visitors and giving them an amazing opportunity to climb up the spire next 8th, 22nd, 29th August 2026 from 1pm to 5pm.

Visitors will be able to ascend the 309-foot (94 metre) high spire, which is the third tallest spire in the UK, and the tallest on a parish church.

On a clear day visitors will have a excellent view of Preston, and the surrounding countryside as far as Blackpool.

The tower contains a single bell of 31 cwt (1.5 tonnes) cast by Mears and Stainbank of Whitechapel which is the heaviest swinging bell in Lancashire.

The times of access are 1pm to 5pm and the ticket price is £12.

All proceeds will go to assist in the maintenance of this structure and especially the restoration of our amazing roof.

Tickets can be purchased online; no ticket sales at the door

Every 45 minutes, 15 people will be able to climb the 172 steps, tours of the Church will be offered.

Children must be aged 7 and over and accompanied by a responsible adult.
